Our dental restorations are achieved using natural tooth coloured composite resins whenever possible.
When damage can't be predictably repaired by a filling material alone, a crown is recommended to restore the missing tooth structure. Compared to fillings, crowns offer more protection to a tooth which has been more significantly weakened by decay or traumatic fracture.
Are you missing one or more teeth?
There are several ways to replace a missing tooth or teeth:
Dental implants are an effective way to replace missing teeth and restore the fullness of your smile. Implants are artificial roots carefully inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the missing natural tooth. After a healing period of about three to six months, an artificial (but virtually natural-looking) replacement tooth can be attached to the implant. Once completed, you will be left with a strong tooth that is natural-looking, dramatically improving the overall appearance of your smile.
Another way of restoring a missing tooth or teeth, a bridge uses the support of the teeth on either side of the space to hold an artificial tooth in place. This is achieved by putting crowns on the supporting teeth. A bridge (which is one piece but looks like it has individual teeth) is then permanently cemented or bonded into place.
Do you have significant tooth loss? Dentures might be a good option for you. Custom-fitted dentures allow patients who have lost all or most of their teeth to enjoy the benefits of a beautifully restored smile. You should be able to speak more clearly and eat more comfortably with these new dentures.
Dr. Ostrega offers two types of dentures: partial and complete. Partial dentures are perfect for patients with some healthy natural teeth left. These dentures have clasps that fit onto the surrounding teeth, keeping everything in place. These can be taken out for cleaning and while you sleep. Complete dentures are used when all of your natural teeth are missing.
Avoid damage to your teeth as you age by maintaining proper care at home - Dr. Ostrega can help!
